Around an hour and bit sailing from the Lefkas bridge is the beautiful island of Meganisi. The Northern side of the Island has a selection of stunning bays and harbours to explore. The whole island has become more and more popular as yachting tourism is becoming bigger in the South Ionian. However there is usually a space left in one of the great bays for those sailors who like to watch the sun set under their genoa.
The one of the most popular harbours is Vathi. Which has a few mooring options. On the rights as you come in to the bay is George's quay, a nice quite spot to swim, shower and enjoy good food. Or you can head in further to stay at the yacht club or on the main town quay. The yacht club is a little bit more pricey but there are nice showers and a good little bar. You can provision well here although it is a little more expensive.
Next door is Spartahori, where there are two harbours available. Both have lazy lines and can get pretty full. However it is well worth booking as you can enjoy locally caught fish on a table less than a meter from the sea!
Other options are Abeleke Bay and Port Athene which have a selection of small inlets surrounding them to tuck yourself into and enjoy a meal onboard or dinghy to a near by taverna on the waterfront.
Meganisi really gives you the feeling of a summer sailing holiday, everything about it screams "jump in the sea"!
