This season we are going to be launching our specialised Assisted Bareboat and Training Flotilla
The idea for this Training Flotilla is that sailors can learn a lot from watching and talking to each other, so as well as being a fun way to sail around the Ionian you will also get to become better sailors and benefit from having experienced instructors and crew around to help when you need some advice or a line catching.
How does it work?
Once a month all of our yachts will be sailing on a mini-flotilla. There are two sections to this flotilla:
1 – We will have 2 or 3 RYA Training Vessels with RYA Instructors onboard. You can join as a single/couple/whole boat (max 4/5 students). During the week you will be able to complete either the RYA Competent Crew Course or RYA Day Skipper Practical Course. This is a great way to learn the ropes as you will have the benefit from receiving briefings and advice from two/three instructors during the week as well as other experienced sailors from the bareboat side of the group. The courses will run the same as normal but the yachts will end up in the same destinations each evening, giving you a chance to catch up with others on courses and discuss what you have learnt during the day.
2 – The rest of the fleet will be available as Assisted Bareboats or Skippered Charter. The idea in this is that you will be skippering your own yacht (you must be previously qualified) but with the back up of the Instructors only a call away. We will have a route plan for the week and you are welcome to come and go from the group as you please.
You can also combine this with a week bareboat if you want a two week holiday with a little assistance for the first week. This can be a great way to ease yourself back into bareboating if it has been a while. You may also want to talk to us about one of our Refresher Courses?
